Thunderstorms

When did thunderstorms with full-fledged thunder and lightning become un-scary? I've always been a fan of watching thunderstorms, but I prefer to watch them from somewhere safe... away from trees, metal bats and metal fences. Thursday night is softball night, and last Thursday was also a night of ridiculous storms. I drove over to the softball fields to make sure our game had been cancelled, positive that the park would be deserted, only to find about 50 crazy people still playing and observing a softball game. These people also had their kids out there... a whole kindergarten class full of them. No joke - the entire sky would light up with lightning and thunder would roll, and these people just went on with the game, holding metal sticks up in the air, hanging on to the fences. Then the rain came. And they ran out of there like it was acid. Stick around just asking to get electrocuted, run like crazy when you might get wet? Something's not right...

We had a crazy storm here this morning. I woke up at about 6 am thinking a monsoon was taking the house down. Scary.
